Reduce the month, the day and the year to single digits separately, add the three results, then reduce once more. Stop at 11, 22 or 33 wherever they appear — those are master numbers and stay as they are.
Worked example, 14 March 1988: month 3 stays 3. Day 14 → 1 + 4 = 5. Year 1988 → 1 + 9 + 8 + 8 = 26 → 2 + 6 = 8. Then 3 + 5 + 8 = 16 → 1 + 6 = 7.
