Reduce the month, the day and the year to single digits separately, add the three results together, then reduce again. Stop at 11, 22 or 33 wherever they appear. For 14 March 1988: month 3, day 14 → 5, year 1988 → 26 → 8. Then 3 + 5 + 8 = 16 → 7.
