Life Path vs Destiny: The Two Maps in Your Chart
One is the road. One is the assignment. Understanding both changes how you read every other number in your blueprint.
Two numbers do most of the heavy lifting in a numerology chart: your Life Path and your Destiny (sometimes called Expression). People conflate them and then can't figure out why their reading feels off. They're answering different questions.
Your Life Path comes from your birthdate. It's the road your life is built to walk — the texture of your days, the kind of person you keep becoming, the pull underneath your choices. It doesn't change. You can't outgrow it; you can only get better at being it.
Your Destiny comes from your full birth name. It's the assignment — what you're here to accomplish, the shape of the work, the contribution. It tells you what the road is for.
A 5 Life Path on a 1 Destiny is restless freedom in service of starting things no one else would start. A 7 Life Path on a 6 Destiny is a private, studious person whose work shows up in the care they give the people around them. The combinations are specific; the meaning isn't generic.
When the two are aligned, you feel like yourself doing your work. When they're at tension, the tension is the point — it's where your most original contribution lives, but only if you stop trying to resolve it.
Every other number in your chart — Soul, Personality, pinnacles, cycles — is a layer on top of these two. Read them first, in that order, and the rest of the chart starts speaking in plain language.
